Got back to the car just as the meter maid was leaving.
"Oh for pity's sake, come on, give me a break," I cried.
Flipped a sign at her back, then I noticed the flat
Went to get the jack and realized that the keys were locked inside.

Just one of those times, all that went wrong turned out to have some meaning.
Just one of those smiles meant to alleviate the tension turned to
Just one of those smiles that says, "Come in. Begin."

Walked back to the coffee shop and I sat down at the counter -
Indescribable looks as I slammed down my book and swore out loud.
Then they all moved away as I elbowed your tray - dishes flying everywhere,
You leaned in and said, "You sure know how to please a crowd."


I said, "I'm a jerk" and I related my sad story
But you told me to wait, you'd be done with your shift in five
Took me back to the car, pulled out one of those slim jim things and broke right in and then turned and you said, "So, could you give a girl a ride?"
