Story Behind The Song
The feel/theme for this song just came to me one day-I was just wondering -wondering if we're ever going to get it-I think we can-just need to change our way of thinking-we've had all these wonderful teachers-who all had attained this higher consciousness-if we can shift our thinking into a higher gear, a higher energy, a higher consciousness- then anything is possible.
Peace and kndness,
Ken
Song Description
The intro has a mellow jazz rock vibe and has one recurring note from the organ-as if it carries some sort of sublimnal, coded message. The song falls into a soft twelve string rhythm with a surreal pedal steel guitar-the ending accelerates where the intro left off and Stephanie Gross's backing vocals soar with the help of a liquid-clean lead guitar.

Lyrics
PROPHETS AND SAGES
God lead me to the promised land
I'm so confused, just a simple man
Is there a place in this old world
Where kindness and love overrule the sword
CHORUS
And through the ages, Prophets and Sages
Have tried to guide us to higher ground
And it makes me wonder, in a world of thunder
If we have a clue what they're talking about
Cause we go on, on and on and on
Yes we go on, on and on and on
INSTRUMENTAL BREAK
Like his Father he went off to war
Served his country well, made them proud
Now a bad wind blows through his head
Cause that damned war he can't forget
REPEAT CHORUS
We go on
Go on
Go on starting wars we have no business in
Go on electing fools for our president
We go on, Go on
Go on a raping this sacred earth
Go on forgetting life depends upon her
We go on, Go on
Go on preaching hate and not love
Go on forgetting that we all are one
We go on, Go on
REPEAT CHORUS
We go on and go on, Go on and on
END
