Chicago Burning: LYRICS Keith Michael Field - KMF MUzik

Verse 1

Woke up in the morning boys from ILL - I - Noise came round
Posting signs about a Fire ...Burnt a city down

It said ...Come up to Chi - Cago ...and build the Promised Land
Phoenix on the Prairie ...Castles made of Sand

Chorus

So, we're going up to Chicago
Build it back again ...Better than before ...Work for you and me

Going Downtown Chicago ...Golden miles are planned
Diamond on the shore ...Castles made of Sand
Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town

Verse 2

There's work for everybody. They're hiring on the spot
Building wide and stacking tall with everything they've got

The spirit of Chicago is the fire they were born
So, they built it back again ...Better than before

Chorus

So, we're going up to Chicago
Build it back again ...Better than before ...Work for you and me

Going Downtown Chicago ...Golden miles are planned
Diamond on the shore ...Castles made of Sand
Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town

Verse 3

The south side of Chicago is the roughest part of town
Stockyards full of cattle ...from everywhere around

Cowboys paid and silver ...and Butchers paid in gold
Blood and guts are everywhere ...The smell of Death is cold

Chorus

So, we're going up to Chicago
Build it back again ...Better than before ...Work for you and me

Going Downtown Chicago ...Golden miles are planned
Diamond on the shore ...Castles made of Sand
Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town

Verse 4

Grandpa was a cowboy ...The stockyards where we stayed
People came from everywhere ....to work for equal pay.
The Civil War was over ...The slaves were free at last
Blacks and Whites together working
Forgotten was the past

Chorus

So, we're going up to Chicago
Build it back again ...Better than before ...Work for you and me

Going Downtown Chicago ...Golden miles are planned
Diamond on the shore ...Castles made of Sand
Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town

Verse 5

The stockyards of Chicago was the baddest part around Raton. Rats were eating babies. If moms were not around. Cows and pigs were squealing
Death was everywhere. Blood and guts were on the floor. Stench was in the air.

Chorus

So, we're going up to Chicago
Build it back again ...Better than before ...Work for you and me

Going Downtown Chicago ...Golden miles are planned
Diamond on the shore ...Castles made of Sand

Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town

Verse 6

There're rivers full of boats and barges and trains that never stop
Building taller than the sky ...Where people come and shop
They're stacking wheat and packing meat and shipping far away
A showcase for the world to see ...More people every day

Chorus

So, we're going up to Chicago
Build it back again ...Better than before ...Work for you and me

Going Downtown Chicago ...Golden miles are planned
Diamond on the shore ...Castles made of Sand

Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town

Verse 7

There's Oldtown, Newtown, Uptown, Bucktown ...a place for you and me
They're building big museums and universities.
We built a city from the ashes better than before
A Phoenix on the Prairie ...Diamond on the shore

Chorus

So, we're going up to Chicago
Build it back again ...Better than before ...Work for you and me

Going Downtown Chicago ...Golden miles are planned
Diamond on the shore ...Castles made of Sand

Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town
Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town
Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town ...Chi town
