Story Behind The Song
But Anne is shy and cannot tell him she loves him. The "black out screen" in the chorus refers to the big black screens they put in front of the windows to keep other buildings across the street from seeing into their hiding space.
Song Description

Lyrics
Peter Please
Peter?s in the attic
And I want to go see him
His bed is tucked up under the eaves
O Peter please
O Peter won?t you let me in
I just know that we could be friends
I like to talk, you could just listen
O Peter please
I got a lonesome heart
Living two floors apart
I?m with you only in my dreams
At night behind the blackout screen
Peter I?m waiting on the stairs
Peter I?m waiting on you to care
You open the door and you?ll find me sitting there
O Peter please
I got a lonesome heart?
When I?m lying in my bed
All the footsteps overhead
All the things we should have said
I should be sleeping like the dead
Instead I?m not
Hands pressed up against the wall
How you stutter, how you stall
You can?t hear me when I call
I lean towards you till I fall
My breath drops
Eyes wide I?m awake
Hands held up for you to take
I bend, I?m sure to break
Feeling like my life?s at stake
In waking dreams I?m snared I?m caught
I got a lonesome heart?
