Story Behind The Song
This song was written on a dreary, stormy night in the Sunken Gardens at the College of William and Mary. I felt so miserable and alone following break ups with a string of different boys. I didn't know how I would get used to being alone, but I knew I needed to be alone for a while, and focus on myself and my own goals. This song is what happened, and it said everything I was feeling.
Song Description
Do Without is a song about a young woman who has just realized that she can achieve her own independence and success without the crutch of another's support. It is an anthem for those who feel they have relied too heavily on their lovers for a sense of self worth.

Lyrics
Won't someone come and take me away?
Won't someone teach me to pray?
For all my life, I've never been alone,
But now that I have no one, it's like I have my home.
I want to fly higher than this.
I want to fly stronger and true.
I want to stand up every day.
I want to know I can do without you.
It's manic depression up my sleeves.
As February lends her chill.
I've hitched my wagon to a star, but she's burning my reins.
So I'll have to do it, do it, do it on my own.
I want to fly higher than this.
I want to fly stronger and true.
I want to stand up every day.
I want to know I can do without you.
And you think you've got something on me,
Well, I guess this proves you wrong...
I want to fly higher than this.
I want to fly stronger and true.
I want to stand up every day.
I want to know I can see this through.
I want to know I can do without you,
I want to know I can do without you,
I want to know I can do without...
