Story Behind The Song
The Pool of Bethesda is a pool of water associated with healing in Jerusalem, on the path of the Beth Zeta Valley. The fifth chapter of the Gospel of John describes such a pool in Jerusalem, near the Sheep Gate, which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. The biblical narrative continues by describing a Shabbat visit to the site by Jesus, during which he heals a man who has been bedridden for many years, and could not make his own way into the pool.

blue skies, i've got my head down low today
i don't know what to say this time
nobody's got a say
so i'll just sit here and wait for the answer
where am i going today, or any day
this dysfunction leads me to one place
back in your arms where i belong
in that perfect place
but i saw a pathway with no knowing,
of where do i go, and what's past my own road
no, i don't even know
and i saw a cardinal in the oak tree
red as blood and he just flew away
why can't i be that way
it's all you, lord
this dysfunction leads me to one place
back in your arms where i belong
