Story Behind The Song
John Lennon'd Imagine is certainly one of the most iconic songs of the last 50 years. It is the rare piece of music that touches people in a way they almost can't describe but intuitively get. We've always found John Lennon to be a deeply spiritual person and had he not been senselessly killed some 40 years ago, I think he might have been headed in the lyrical direction this version takes.
John Ludwig and Shawn Mitchell had previously worked together on the Grammy considered song These Streets Are Holy. It was a natural for the two of them to put out this re-imagined Imagine.
Song Description
Shawn Mitchell and the kids of the Workstudy Performing Arts Choir give a stirring and emotional performance that turns John Lennon's classic song Imagine into a gospel anthem for brotherhood and unity. It was released on the day of George Floyd's funeral as the nation and world stood in desperate need of the unity, brotherhood and healing that can only come from the Father of Creation.
The song ends after a simmering gospel build with a child's voice saying, "you may say I'm a dreamer - and the world will be as one". You'll feel it.
With a gospel build starting around 3:35, the message that 'the world will be as one' resounds with grace-filled hope. We further "hope that someday you'll join us" - perhaps even today. Peace.

Lyrics
Imagine you're in heaven, your time on earth is through
Eternal joy is waiting, as Jesus welcomes you
Imagine all the people, living for God's will
Imagine peace perfected, like only He could do
No more warring madness, hatred is over too
Imagine all the people, living in God's grace
You may say I'm a dreamer, but faith and hope let me know
Jesus promised of a place, with love that never lets us go
Imagine needing nothing, I wonder if you can
No more pain or illness, it's his eternal plan
Imagine all the people singing God's praise
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
And the world will be as one (8x)
You may say I'm a dreamer
And the world will be as one
