Story Behind The Song

An ad. came on the TV featuring the hook line of Mika's "Grace Kelly". I was listening, not actually watching the TV. I thought, That's great. I can do that! Broadjam Member Lenny B wrote a great review of this song: "Cool instrumentation and great arrangement. I love the chord changes. I'd send it to the band Jellyfish if they were still together. If someone was looking for material in that drippy psychedelic technicolor style, you've got their next hit. Good job! This song should have been in Johnny Depp's version of Willie Wonka. The weakest part is the quality of the production. I understand the style you're going after... But I can't get the sequenced keyboard out of my head. If I had a magic wand, I'd buy you a better microphone and hire an orchestra to do the music. It would be a mind blower if it was all real instruments."

Song Description

This is a tribute to Mika, and is the long version. I think that Mika writes great pop songs, and I love the arrangements. This is my take on what he does.

Lyrics

I'm not Elvis Presley, the Stones or Elton John,
But Rock 'n' Roll is my thing since 1961.
I am not old, I am just bold, with 21st. Century trends -
I may not be a star now, but I'll get there in the end!

Wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah,
Wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah.
Hi-dee-ho, didy-didy-do,
Wah-hooh-wah-hooh-wah.

Who's gonna go far? I am!
Who's gonna go far? I-I-I-I am!

Sitting on the sidelines and watching Mika rise -
I can do the same thing - to me that's no surprise.
Mika is great, that I will state, with 21st. Century trends -
And yes he is a star now, but I'll get there in the end!

Wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah,
Wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah.
Hi-dee-ho, didy-didy-do,
Wah-hooh-wah-hooh-wah.

Who's gonna go far? I am!
Who's gonna go far? I-I-I-I am!

This song came so fast into my mind -
It won't be the last little treasure that I find.
(If you see what I mean).

Sitting by the keyboard I write them all the while.
This one is a winner, I love the trendy style.
Going for gold, never too old, with 21st. Century trends -
And I will be a star now, 'n' I'll get there in the end!

Wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah,
Wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah-ooh-wah.
Hi-dee-ho, didy-didy-do,
Wah-hooh-wah-hooh-wah.

Who's gonna go far? I am!
Who's gonna go far? I-I-I-I am!

Hooray, hurrah,
I'm gonna be a star!
Hooray, hurrah,
I'm gonna be a star!
Hooray, hurrah,
So la-la-la-la-lah! (And fade out).
