Born Again

Story Behind The Song

This song was written in the early 90's as part of my album, "Confessions to the Thought Police" and was a confession of personal faith and encouragement to others to receive Christ as Lord and Savior in an increasingly hostile world. My wife and two daughters also sang and performed in the band.

Song Description

This song uses teachings from Jesus and His apostle John and primarily focuses on John 3:16 and 1 John, 5: 10,11. Many people who consider themselves Christians, deny they are "born again". The song encourages believers to understand being born again by quoting Scriptures, and to receive Christ fully as Lord and Savior.

Lyrics

Born Again Copyright (c) 2009 John Barron

There is darkness and there is light upon the world,
But by our nature, we choose the darkness.
But through Jesus Christ, the light came to the world,
That whoever believes in Him, shall be saved.

(Bridge)
Flesh gives birth to flesh.
And Spirit birth to Spirit.
The Savior speaks the truth;
Can you hear it?

(Chorus)
Born again, in Christ,
Born again, and dead to sin!
Born again, in Christ,
Born again!
Born again to live!
Born again forgive!
Eternally we live, in Christ!

This is the testimony, God has given us eternal life,
And this life is in His Son.
By His Spirit He can guide us into all truth,
If you turn to Him in Love.

(Bridge)

(Chorus), end
