A man's wife suddenly and mysteriously leaves him. He gets convicted of her murder and is put on death row. After sixteen years she returns and he is released from prison whereupon he murders her and is subsequently executed.

Since they found me guilty because I didn't have an alibi
When she came back they set me free
I got a pardon but I got no apology
But after sixteen years dependency
The only place I call my home is in the penitentiary
I begged forgiveness from above
Before I shot the only girl that I will ever love
I waited for the cops and handed them my gun
I said "take me back to prison boys, 'cos justice must be done"
Finally they've come to shave my head
For sixteen years I waited to be dead
So bury me next to the girl who caused so much pain
And write this on my headstone "she will never leave my side again"
