Story Behind The Song
A frontier era spin on a long forbidden but relevent topic that is still dealt with today in many churches and religions. Taking a hint from Johnny Cash, who never backed down from a dark subject, this song spins a tale of darkness with bluegrass styled musicianship to lend to the erie mood and vibe of the story.

Lyrics
Every Sunday the preacher
would show up right on time
As we were eating supper
like clock work he'd arrive
He loved my mom's chicken
said he never had a decent meal
that Preacher was all alone in this world
With nuthin' but time to kill
(Chorus)
Jesus loves me this I know
For Brother Jones he tells me so
Might our sins be washed away
With a wine of red - a Cabernet
Jesus loves me this I know
For Brother Jones he tells me so
Might our sins be washed away
As we drink red wine on Judgment Day
Said he gave up drinking
But that was a tall tale
He knew the name of every wine
And he knew the labels well
Said he gave up smoking
But that was just a lie
the Preacher always smoked a pipe
Smelled like cherry pie
(chorus)
He walked with a crooked cane of wood
Cuz his back was always hurt
In his hand a bible
he didn't thump it outside of church
Yeah I knew the preacher
I knew him too damn well
If the elders saw what he let us see
his soul would be damned to Hell
(chorus)
