Story Behind The Song
Ernest (Ernie) Rossi is a beloved fixture in Manhattan's Little Italy, where he runs E. Rossi & Company, the shop that has been in his family for over 100 years. In the '50s and '60s, E. Rossi & Company was one of the biggest publishers of Italian and Neapolitan music that found its way to America, and in the fine family tradition, Ernie is a gifted songwriter and musician. He always keeps his old, beat-up, nylon-string guitar behind the counter in his shop so he can entertain his visitors while they shop. "No Cannolis For Christmas" has long been a favorite of his customers, and we have finally recorded it as part of an upcoming Italian American-themed Christmas album.
