Story Behind The Song
I was sitting outside under a night sky and looking out over the city lights. My head was awhirl, because I was a little drunk and Catherine and I had just had a fight. Sometime during all this, the idea for the song planted itself in my brain, but there was a MAJOR re-write before it was ready for the studio.

Lyrics
Love and Hate
So this is how it's going to be?
Me staring at you, you staring at me
A truce in our war of a words
A war I don't think either one of us heard
And outside there's a moon and wind
I walk through the park to where the light ends
I think about things I don't understand
And it's all I can do to return again
But it's just love and hate
Pushing and pulling like two soul mates
It's just love and hate
They live inside everybody's state
Of mind
And pride it goes before the fall
We're burning bridges, we're building walls
We're both trying way too hard to win
We don't even care what we win
And it's love and hate
Pushing and pulling like two soul mates
It's just love and hate
They live inside everybody's state
Of mind
And on the steps I take in the city
The lights are on but nothing is pretty
The air is clear, the stars look gold
The wind comes up and it's filled with cold
And the thought runs through my head
This could be how everything ends
Sitting on steps under starry skies
Wondering how best to say goodbye
But it's just love and hate
Pushing and pulling like two soul mates
It's just love and hate
And if you're feeling one, the other just waits
And it's love and hate
They live inside everybody's state
Of mind
