V1: Let me tell you some rhyming of I've tried many times before, to pull the plug on some habits of mine that I sometimes don"t want no more. Ah but those little side tracks and trails they shine if you look all ways; so I put off and hide inside do tomorrow what I can't do today.
Chor1: with little excuses I distract myself. I'm a slave to the good times roll. Need to shake the cigs and beer and pass on that fragrant bowl.
V2: Digging down for self discipline, it's oh so very hard to do. Giving in on those nagging desires that take the concentration right out of you. Ah but it's so pleasant cause it takes some bad times from my mind. Feed those silly habits boy. Keep you from frettin' about what's coming on down the line.

V3: There must be some strength inside of me to let me put these distractions aside; and work a plan with all I can, just give the straight road a ride. But a lifetime on the straight line doesn't mean that I won't fall. It just means I won't put it all off when my backs up against the wall.
