Story Behind The Song
This song was written after an argument in the rain in front of an abandoned firestation in Northern Ohio.
Song Description
This is a song about being mixed up, tirelessly losing yourself in your head, a tragic kind of dancing, dancing with Scarlet, only in this dance the song never stops, it just swirls around in your brain and keeps you from sleeping. I was writing this song and I felt the mood of it as a color and that color was Scarlet. Dancing Scarlet became my way of describing the emotional knots two people can sometimes weave themselves into.

Lyrics
Window light, a lover?s lament
Scale these walls, damn that cement
?Cause I?m trying to keep your eyes from burning me
So tired, but its never enough
City girls acting so tough
And I?m sinking, spinning from the way you?re turning me
And you don?t know the first thing about being in love
It?s hidden in the smoke rings that you blow up above
And I?m dancing scarlet through the night
Dancing ?til I get it right
But I can?t let you go, I can?t let you go
Satellites of silver and gold
Cheap wine by the side of the road
And I?m running wherever those streetlights will carry me
Well you shine just like a diamond in the pouring rain
Whispering though the rails like a ghost off a speeding train
And I?m dancing scarlet through the night
Dancing ?til I get it right
But I can?t let you go, and I can?t let you go (2x)
