Story Behind The Song
I stole the title and premise of this song from a Robert Frost poem. It has been a recurring theme in my life. I feel I've earned the right to steal it.
Song Description
We all fall in love and rarely question the reasons, but sometimes we fall out of love without knowing exactly why. The magic is gone and we don't know where it went or why. It's just gone.

Lyrics
?I will mend your soul? she said,
?like the holes in your faded blue jeans?
- Tell me where it hurts? she said,
and wrapped herself around me, like so many love scenes
but I? I could not say
These summer nights are so long
Waiting for September to rescue me
I may leave tomorrow, before sunlight falls
On the place where she lay sleeping
But I? I could not stay
And I don?t know why
Sometimes love fades away
And I don?t know why
Nothing gold can stay
Nothin? gold can stay
I don?t know why
Nothin? gold can stay
Now I lay me down to sleep
And she is near me, by my side
A lonely river runs deep
And slowly rises with the tide
But I? I could not pray
And I don?t know why
Sometimes love just fades away
And I don?t know why
Nothing gold can ever stay
Nothin? gold can stay
I don?t know why
Nothin? gold can stay
No, I don?t know why
Nothin? gold, nothin? gold can stay
?I will mend your soul? she said,
?like the holes in your faded blue jeans -
