Story Behind The Song
The title of this song came to me after a trip through Arizona and New Mexico. The temperature dropped from almost 120 degrees to the seventies, and the desert landscape came alive with thunder and lightning.
Song Description
"Rain In The Desert" expresses gratitude through the metaphor of a desert being transformed by rain.

Lyrics
Rain In The Desert
By Jane Canfield
Have you ever felt Arizona at a hundred twenty degrees,
In the desert without water you could die from the heat,
But it's wonderful when the weather turns, everything is changed,
The sky lights up, the water falls, and a dying heart is saved.
You're like rain in the desert,
Beautiful rain,
A cloud that opens wide and fills my empty sky,
'Cause I'm coming out of a long hard drought,
You're like rain in the desert to me.
Yes, my world was so dry, just a dead barren land,
But you made it come alive like blossoms in the sand,
And suddenly it's all silver hues, and a rainbow too,
Yes, I'm feeling those colors and it's all because of you.
You're like rain in the desert,
Beautiful rain,
A cloud that opens wide and fills my empty sky,
'Cause I'm coming out of long hard drought,
You're like rain in the desert to me.
Pour down on me,
You are just what I need.
Rain,
Beautiful rain,
A cloud that opens wide and fills my empty sky,
'Cause I'm coming out of a long hard drought,
You're like rain in the desert to me.
