Story Behind The Song
This song was birthed out of a true circumstance. My friend John lost his wife to cancer last year leaving him to raise their two children by himself. I wrote this from his perspective.

God Help Me- Jana Leigh McWhorter

(Verse 1)
Well the doctor brought the news that I didn't want to hear
His words pierced me like a knife and revealed my deepest fear
I couldn't stop the tears, so I turned my head to cry
And I prayed dear God, please don't let her die
Well the next few months were painful, and the hardest of my life
When my children lost their mother and I lost my loving wife
(Chorus)
God help me- This pain is just so strong, but I'll try to carry on and so I'm asking God please...God help me
(verse 2)
Oh I wanted to believe, hoping somehow it could be true
That a miracle would happen and I'd have more time with you
I hate these lonely nights like I never have before
My mind just wants to picture you, come walking through that door
Sometimes I get so mad and I scream and question why
When I asked God to let you live, and then I watched you die
(Chorus)
Bridge
Although the future is unclear
My kids they need me here
And if there's one thing I have vowed ,
It's that I'm gonna make their mother proud
(verse 3)
I hear my daughter crying in the quite of the night
I hold her in my arms and tell her it's gonna be alright
I know she must have thought about her future wedding day
And how her mother will not be there, when I give her away
She needs me to be strong, and her brother needs me to
So I'm asking God for grace and strength to help me make it through
Repeat chorus
