Story Behind The Song
In this new world of complete polarisation, it seems that everything is now part of a big divide.
So, to clarify, 'Play On' is neither for nor against the following:
Brexit, Tories, Labour, Socialism, Democrat, Republican, borders or immigration......etc
Over the past 18 months a lot of change has happened and despite how people voted there has been zero progression politically, socially or economically. I just see polarised divides in friendships, families, work places and the local pub with considerable emphasis on fear and hate.
The song is simply saying it's normal regular people like me and you that must now 'Play On' in this new unstable and messy world, putting our faith and fate firmly in the hands of elected politicians who chose to take up the responsibility of such a role and who should now do their job.
Us mere mortals must just 'Play On'. This song is one of unity and not divide, please have another listen with new ears.

Lyrics
VERSE
Strong and stable we were told
down the river we've been sold
They were in it for a thrill
now it's time to pay the bill
Soon our kingdom will divide
people for the sake of pride
God bless all who enter here
leave your hope and bring your fear
PRECHORUS
As this ship begins to slip into a cold black sea
CHORUS
Play on, play on, play on
with your back against the wall
Play on, play on, play on
Play on through it all
Verse
Fake news makes the world go round
Society is falling down
Politics is on its knees
PRECHORUS
As this ship begins to slip into a cold black sea
CHORUS
Play on, play on, play on
with your back against the wall
Play on, play on, play on
Play on through it all
solo (8 bars)
Mid 8
No hate, no fear
one love, right here
Right here, right now
not when but how
No hate, no fear
one love, right here
Right here, right now
someday, somehow
CHORUS
Play on, play on, play on
with your back against the wall
Play on, play on, play on
Play on through it all
