Story Behind The Song
Frank Grant, a frequent co-writer of mine, and I decided to try and come up with an anthemic modern country rhythm ballad. A story of ever-lasting love and dedication, even in a world that seems to reject such feelings. Troy Johnson was the perfect artist for this sentiment. To some, it might come off as cloying or mawkish, but to us, it seems just right.

Lyrics
When love goes outta style
And my heart don't sing each time you smile
When your every kiss don't feel brand new
Well, I, I'll stop lovin' you
When lovebirds don't take wing
When they can't remember how to sing
When Sherlock Holmes don't have a clue
Well, I, I'll stop lovin' you
'Til 8 o'clock comes just once a day
Instead of twice, the usual way
And your laugh don't sparkle like the fallin' rain
That's how long my love will stay
When the sand don't touch the sea
When the sea don't reach out and touch the sky
When the sky stays blue the whole night through
Well, I, I'll stop lovin' you
Oh, I, I'll stop lovin' you
When the sun comes up in the West
And I, I'll stop lovin' you
When the Good Lord takes a rest
Oh I, I'll stop lovin' you
When the Mississippi River runs dry
And I, till the day I die
That's when I'll stop lovin' you
