I heard the whole hard luck story from my girlfriend'sister. Troublesome Red was very fast and never lost a race and before a projected half million dollar purse win in Boston, he was thrown in a hostile kennel by the competition.

Song Description

IT is a true story except for the obvious artistic license here and there. Troublesome Red was my girlfriend's Grandad's dog. He raised and raced greyhounds.

When he died Mr Nail had the body of his dog flown in
born to fly die to fly to
To this day I don't know if that says more about that old man or him
eventually of course they both died
but I know he is still chasin that electric jackrabbit
and I do know that if you sit and listen to the wind
you can still hear Mr. Nail, just a whistlin
to his best Troublesome but simply to fast to be a dog friend
