Story Behind The Song
I originally wrote this song to be performed as a duet between a male and female. Then I rewrote it to be more of an American Idol song sung by a female lead and backups. It's my favorite song of all that I have written to date.

Lyrics
"For the Rest of My Life"
Words and Music by
(c) Terence Davis
v1
Waiting back stage
the first night of the show
All the seats are filled up,
everyone's in their place,
and the lights are turned low...
the spot light was waiting,
as I walked out all alone...
to the front of the stage,
to the microphone.
Chorus:
And then I saw you,
trough tears in my eyes
you always were there for me,
you helped me go on.
I'll remember this, for ever and always
as I stand here in this light
I'll never forget you,
for the rest of my life!
v2
The spot light was waiting
as I started my song
lost in the moment,
I sang on and on...
Deep in my memory
Feelings I tried to hide
I'll hold onto this moment
for the rest of my life
chorus
And then I saw you
through tears in my eyes
you always were there for me
you helped me go on
I'll remember this, for ever and always
as I stand here in this light
I'll never forget you
for the rest of my life
v3
sometimes in winter
my path in the snow
from springtime to autumn
Seasons come and go
In sunshine and rainfall
I'll go on through it all
You'll always be part of me
to my last curtain call
And then I saw you
through tears in my eyes
each night you were there for me
you helped me go on
I'll remember this, forever and always
you'll always be part of me,
for the rest of my life.
