Lyrics
The Angel on The 7th Stair
By Gordon McLeod copyright 1997, 1999
Intro
A small boy slips quiet from the dark of his bed.
He?s sure he hears wings, there?s a light in his head,
Soft rain in the lanes, a damp chill in the air,
He sits and talks to the angel on the 7th stair.
Intro
He snuggles up close, enfolded in soft wings,
He must tell his angel so many things.
He slips far form the hunger, poverty and despair,
Talking to his angel on the 7th stair.
Chorus:
Poverty, sorrow, hoping for joy.
He sits in the darkness , just a small wide-eyed boy,
Talking to the angel
Father?s love in the morning, stories are told.
Love later squandered, he?s out drinkin? the dole.
The human heart?s paradox, the great mystery,
A child?s understanding holding the key.
He sits till the cold drives him back to his bed.
Angel voices stir the blue light in his head.
He drifts off to dreams, Cuchulain is there,
Blessed by the angel on the 7th stair.
Chorus:
Poverty, sorrow, hoping for joy.
He sits in the darkness just a small wide-eyed boy,
Talking to the angel, talking to the angel, talking to the angel.
