Kitty

Story Behind The Song

I often used to tell people my cat wrote the song. Lead Guitar - Carmine D'Amico

Song Description

I'd hate to give that away and be obvious, because that would take away from the song. It is either about a cat or a girl having an impossible time at home finding no place home or outside for refuge. I can remember when I was a teenager, it seemed all

Song Length 4:13 Genre Pop - Dreampop, Folk - Rock
Tempo Slow (71 - 90) Lead Vocal Male Vocal

Lyrics

Kitty

Poor little Kitty
Stuck alone to be at home
Everyone is outside or asleep
Gotta get outside, feel the tide
See commotion, see commotion, see commotion
On the street

Your ears fly back and you run away from every living thing
Poor little Kitty
Alone with no wings
I know Kitty wants to go home
Kitty wants to go home

Alley cats and gutter rats try to block your tracks
But you fight back
Goin? home, go on home
Home sweet home, find yourself alone
See commotion, see commotion, see commotion
In your own home

Your ears fly back and you run away from every living thing
Poor little Kitty
Alone with no wings
I know Kitty wants to go home
Kitty wants to go home

Poor little Kitty
See commotion, see commotion, see commotion
Poor little Kitty
See commotion, see commotion, see commotion

Just Blown Away This is a really nice effort

Great vocal and arrangement .

Beautiful intro with the ethereal block vocals. The tone of the guitar and it's arrangement is sublime. Nice change at 1.33. Very strong lead vocal and tasteful backing vocals. Very catchy in a slightly jazzy way. The instrumentation is excellent Original lyric theme.

Love the guitar. The vibes are dope!

Everything about this song is strong and well done.Seems as if this piece could fit behind a scene of 2 lovers working through life and coming to a point of realization between themselves.

Very lush vocal sound a la Inga (Riding into Blue). Check out that tune if you don't know it (Trevor Horn production).

Really interesting song which sounds professionally produced. Lyrically I wasn't so sure but with a great delivery like this it proves that if you sing with conviction you can sing the phone book and people will 'buy it'.

Good commercial quality with surprising lyrical content. Sophisticated song for adults and children. A Sting/Bob Marley feel.Nice harmonies and great guitar work. Great lead vocal. Very marketable voice. Could easily be good for a family friendly movie or TV show.

A really nice piece.... a Steely Dan. vibe....

Great Instrumentation with the Guitar! Great pop tune. Very good Vocal. Well balanced production. Well done!

How the ahhs at the beginning set a soft, pensive mood! The wistful, lonely melody is perfectly sympathetic to the story of a lonely stray cat...so much that a person can relate. The gritty voice is like life on the street, in the night. Lyrically easy to follow the story, and has catchy repetitions, like "seek commotion..." Instrumentally well done, conservative and sparse, much like a Mark Knopfler tune, to where the saying that less is more really is true. Not a superfluous note. This song really has a rich mood.

Not sure if this is a metaphor comparing a cat to a girl, or if the girl's name is Kitty. Either way, this is a song about escaping the confines of home and getting outside back into the world. Smooth vocal with plenty of emotion, great instrumentation. Nice work!

High professional standards as a recording. Everything is well done!

Very nice intro, though just a tad too long. The vocalist was in tune and has a nice voice. The lyric is interesting, though I don't get the meaning of it in spots. I love the production. What a good mix of instruments. Though not the first song to be about a cat, it is pretty original in the storyline. Check out Michael Franks' "Tiger In The Rain".

Nice intro with guitar and vocal interplay. vocalist has a nice voice that works well for the mood of the song. Has just a shadow of the hint of reggae that provides and interesting flavor to the work. Could hear this in a movie - ending credits type of thing? nice work and enjoyed listening to this.

A nice sound with a lovely melody. The vocals are spot on.The arrangement is nice too.

Good quality recording. Interesting arrangement. Nice guitar work. Very laid back and relaxing.
