Story Behind The Song
Mike Neal wrote this as a straight-forward, guitar-based folk song. With his permission and help, I recorded this at home on a Tascam 16-track digital portastudio. All instruments were hand-played: Mike Neal handled all guitars and bass, Faye Davis did piano, keyboards, percussion, lead & backing vocals. Jim Monroe of the Racket Room, Santa Ana, CA mixed and mastered.

Lyrics
Lay down beside me
It's gonna be alright.
We'll get ourselves free
If it takes all our might.
So please, please, please won't you believe.
Believe.
What will these hard days bring?
You just have to trust.
Mind those poets and kings,
whose hearts would never rust.
Please, please, please won't you believe.
Believe.
Oh, hold your own. You're almost home.
So lay down beside me.
Oh it's just another night.
One for the free.
And one for the fight.
Please, please, please ...
Please, oh please, please, oh please ... won't you believe. Believe.
