Kevin Fry, my son wrote this song, showing his feelings of how life has turned out since he was a child and how we are all paying a price when we close our eyes to the bad things around us

Song Description

A song with a surpirse ending. It sounds like it's ok for us just to look the other way and ignore the bad things our society and people do, It tells us what the consequences of doing this does and encourages us not to close our eyes but to be actively engaged in fighting evil

When I was young I would wonder
Why kids would hurt others
And make them feel like dirt.
As the bully was pounding the innocent one,
A crowd stood by watching their hero at work.
Then with a gleam in his eye he?d claim victory

Now on TV and the big screen, our hero?s are more of the same
We sit and watch guys who have no shame
He gets his revenge, then back to our lives
Are we the same, or did we change? Should be we feeling shame?

Whatever you do, don?t watch the news
Our kids are killing each other.
Is it drugs, their parents, or the clothes they choose?
Nobody knows; what should we do?
Who cares anyway; what?s going on?
You don?t care do you?

Close your eyes and ignore it. It?s not real, you see!
The media creates false reality. Close your ears, don?t explore it!
It?s not worth you time! Close your eyes to the world
It will all go away.

There once was a time when smoking was cool;
Our hero?s smoked two packs a day.
We?re creatures of habit, so we smoked too.
Now our hero?s are dead; they were pretty good guys
Are we leading or being lead? Nobody knows do you?

The sixties we sex, drugs, rock ?n roll:
A slogan that?s taken its toll, from aids to overdose:
Lives in a mess. Were divorced and in courts: it?s funny I guess.
The point was to make us free. Is it a joke on me?

Whatever you do, don?t read the news. If you want to have a good day.
It?s a scandalous story, full of lust and lies.
It?s not worth your time: it?s no big surprise.
Who cares anyway how others live. You don?t care do you?
