Song Description

This song we wrote a couple of years ago in my apartment. I was fingerpicking jazz chords on the guitar and she started singing along. It was so cool, she wrote down lyrics for the chorus. A couple of years later, I started producing a lot more, so I called her up and reminded her about that night, and she remembered! So I got her over to my place to record her lead vocal and as I recorded guitars and bass, she sat behind me listening, humming and writing the rest of the lyrics to what became Inconsolable. We completed the song in just two focused sessions. The vibe of this tune is upbeat, groovy and jazzy. The lyric content is rather dark and somber. It's about feeling misheard and mistreated by a partner that she stays with even though she feels manipulated. Caitlin's voice is rich and soulful for being 21 years old, and really compliments the jazz style well. Now I'm working with her and several others on a large collaborative music project which is soon to come.
