Story Behind The Song
Written while sitting on the back of a sailboat in Panama City in 20 minutes. Larry Lane bet Eric Stone he couldnt write a song about anyting he named within 30 minutes. They agreed to bet on a 6 pack. Larry saw and Manatee and a Jellyfish swim by and there was the title. It is also a metaphor about getting along with your friends and accepting decisions they make that you wouldnt normally do but do so and accept compromise.

Lyrics
THE MANATEE AND THE JELLYFISH
(Eric Stone)
Capo 2nd fret
Intro: D A G A D A Bm G A D
D A G A G A D
Sitting on my friend?s sailboat, watching a jellyfish float the wind controls his life and where he goes
D A G A G A
That makes me start to think, my friend's just like that invertebrate cause' he chases wind no matter where it
D A G A G A D
blows, Then I see a manatee, who?s life is ruled by destiny and the danger that he faces from a prop
D A G A G D D/D7
And then it occurs to me, my life's just like that manatees I wanna get there but there's danger at the top
CHORUS:
G A D Bm G A D/D7
When God made us, he threw away the mold no two will ever be the same
G A D walk to Bm G A D A Bm G D
Boy, you ain?t right, I am often told well if that?s true then you're the one to blame
D A G A G A D
Sipping on an ice cold beer, at the edge of the fishing pier staring at the white caps on the sea
D A G A G A
The wind makes you feel content and for you it pays the rent but all it does is mess fishing up for me
D A G A G A D
And then I realize, life is one big compromise maybe I can drag a line behind the boat
D A G A G D D/D7
If the manatee and the jellyfish, can both somehow co-exist then you can sail and I will try to troll
CHORUS:
G A D Bm G A D/D7
When God made us, he threw away the mold no two will ever be the same
G A D walk to Bm G A D A Bm G D
Boy, you ain?t right, I am often told well if that?s true then you're the one to blame
BRIDGE:
Em A
Now the manatee, is looking back at me
Em A/A7/Asus
And the jellyfish is staring you down, Maybe we're kin?
REPEAT CHORUS
G A D/D7 G A D
If that's true then you're the one to blame If I ain?t right, it's you're fault Larry Lane
