Story Behind The Song
The two writers, Godfrey Lewis (originally from Jamaica) and Curtis Butler (originally from Cleveland, Ohio) met in Atlanta, Georgia while working together on a software development team. As they discussed Jamaican culture, especially sayings by the "old folks", the concept of "buckle up" came up. Curtis suggested to Godfrey "why don't we write a song about that - you give me the lyrics and I'll do the melody and background music." Within just a few days, Godfrey presented to Curtis the lyrics and, within a few weeks, Curtis presented to Godfrey the recording you hear.
Song Description
The journey of life is like a ride you need to buckle up for and make sure you're one the right side - and going the right way. Watch who you are receiving guidance from. However, although the road is fraught with pits and falls, with a good set of values you can win, overcome them all.

Lyrics
Buckle Up!
Buckle up, you're in for a ride
On this journey, your conscience must be your guide
Those who are weak will fall prey
Will fall prey to the fad of the day
Don't forget to read the signs
You've got to know that now is the time
So buckle up, buckle up, I say
Or you'll be lost, gone astray
Buckle up, buckle up, I say
Because one day you'll have to pay
Buckle up, buckle up, I say
You've got to do it, come what may
Buckle up, you're in for a ride
On this journey, you must be on the right side
Find strength in your character
In the end, that is all that will matter
Sit straight up and take some stock
Cause shepherds oft can mislead the flock
So buckle up, buckle up, I say
Or you'll be lost, gone astray
Buckle up, buckle up, I say
Because one day you'll have to pay
Buckle up, buckle up, I say
You've got to do it, come what may
Buckle up, you're in for a ride
On this journey you must, you've got to decide
Though 'long the road pits and falls
You can win, overcome one and all
And when all is said and done
You have your day, your day in the sun
So buckle up, buckle up, I say
Or you'll be lost, gone astray
Buckle up, buckle up, I say
Because one day you'll have to pay
Buckle up, buckle up, I say
You've got to do it, come what may
