Lyrics

LABELED DISABLED
Copyright 2025 Diana Rasmussen

Don't talk to me like I'm stupid,
I heard what you just said
Just give me a moment because
My health is not what it used to be
Please don't treat me different just because I am labeled Disabled

I live in the land with walkers and wheelchairs and canes to get around
It wasn't always this way, I wish I could change it today
Forgive me for taking longer than I should
I do my best to keep up
Some days are good and others just suck
When this disease takes over I can't remember what you said

I look forward to Heaven and streets paved with gold
No more sickness or sadness but a new life instead
I would hold you if I could, whisper "I love you" life would be good
I would dance in your arms while the world stands still
But just not today because
I've been labeled Disabled

Some days my memory is just not aware
I may sit and stare from the seat of this chair
Just remember "I love you"
even if I can't tell you myself

I want to run and dance, sing and play just like we used to do
but I'm trapped in this broken body despite all I do
Don't give up on me baby just because
I've been labeled Disabled

I never asked to be labeled Disabled

Just see me for me
Past disability
I'm trapped inside
With no way to hide
