Story Behind The Song
As soon as I got back from 5 hours at the U.S. border holding centre I wrote this song. When this America is gone, I won't miss it a bit. Cause I been there and it's not like it used to be.
Song Description
This is a classic rock song with heavy blues undertones ala the Black Keys. Because the song tells a story its interesting to listen to a couple of times. The lyrics are just vague enough to allow the listener to transpose any situation where one is being treated unfarily onto them. Could be a love relationship or a job gone bad. Or maybe just a bad trip. Either way the song leaves one with a feeling of triumph. The system didn't win this time.

Lyrics
Been there
Did
Gonna go back so I can say I been there again
Turn the page
Watch the wind blow
Since you been gone
I been on my own
on the inside
Since you been gone
I been outside in
Slide show
Watch
As the star shines she wipes her nose
With her left hand
She makes the sky fall
Since she's been gone
I can work til dawn
on my inside
Since you been gone
I been outside in
Darkness
Dare
To ride the snake she makes a warning sign
In the moonlight
I can read her mind
Since I've been gone
It's a longer way home
To the inside
Since I've been gone
I been outside in
And not alone
Sorry
Did
I hurt your feelings but I wouldn't do it again
Let's turn the page. Til we're...
Til we're outside.
Since you been gone
I been on my own
on the inside
Since you been gone
I been outside in
And not alone
Since you been gone
I been on my own
on the inside
Since you been gone
I been outside in
