Story Behind The Song
My father and I wrote the chorus many years ago. Since we have not spoken in a few years, I wanted to finish this song as a way to re-engage our relationship before it is too late. The song reflects this indirectly in the story.
Song Description
About a man traveling through Missouri, where he stopped at a bar, drank some beer and met a woman. They had a great time together that night. A few years later, he stops back at the same bar he met the woman. The woman is not there, as she had passed away, but left a note for the man. This song is really about remembering the good times in our past and not taking time for granted.

Lyrics
Verse:
Rollin through Missouri trying to make Oklahoma, when I saw a sign that said 'come on in'.
They had the best bands around and the coldest beer in town. The place was called the Dew Drop Inn.
Chorus:
O' What a night,
I spent drinking and carry'n on
Never had such a good time partying
The memories keep lingering on
Verse:
Sitting in the corner, drinking my beer as this woman sat next to me. She said 'How ya doin stranger wont you buy me drink? The locals call me Brenda Lee'.
We moved to the dance floor and we talked all night. Even had a kiss or two. Time stood still as I looked in her eyes, forgetting I am passing through.
Chorus:
O' What a night,
I spent drinking and carry'n on
Never had such a good time partying
The memories keep lingering on
Verse:
As the clock rounded midnight I was lost in a trance. I couldn't get out my chair. A beer too many and a shot to less, it was time that I got outta there. I took Brenda Lee's hand and kissed her goodnight as my chest started caving in. 'I'll be back for you one day, just be right here at the place called the Dew Drop Inn'
Chorus:
O' What a night,
I spent drinking and carry'n on
Never had such a good time partying
The memories keep lingering on
Verse:
Several years later I returned back to that old Missouri town. The bartender told me Brenda Lee fell ill and passed away before she was found. To my surprise she passed me note that was addressed to me, 'I'll never forget those memories, Love Always, Brenda Lee'.
Chorus:
O' What a night,
I spent drinking and carry'n on
Never had such a good time partying
The memories keep lingering on
.......O' What a night
