Lyrics
Verse 1:
Christmas eve and all is well...
beneath this roof of mine...
I sit around just a little lost...
drifting back in time...
Telling all the stories...
friends love so much to hear...
And though I try to hold it back...
I Just can't stop the tears...
Chorus:
Merry Christmas Mama...
here's my gift to you...
For all the years you spent in heartache...
And the pain I put you through...
Merry Christmas Mama...
For all you've done for me...
You'll always be remembered...
Beneath my Christmas tree....
Verse 2:
I remember Christmas mornings...
When we'd gather around the tree...
Mama would pass out presents...
And she'd always start with me...
She would look so deep into my eyes..
with love..and she'd say...
You know it's not the gift that matters...
It's the meaning of this day....
Repeat Chorus:
Verse 3:
Looking back across the years...
I can say beyond a doubt...
I use to take for granted...
That Mama'd always be around....
I wasn't there to say goodbye..
when the good Lord set her free...
I never got to thank her...
for the love she gave to me....
Repeat Chorus:
You know it's not the gift that matters...
It's the meaning of...this..day....
