Story Behind The Song
This came about from an audience suggestion for the title of a song that had never been written before, in an improv show in New York. John Jacobson created the music on the spot. Later I was asked to put words to "You Are My Only One" for a friend's wedding.
Song Description
A love ballad perfectly suited for Nat King Cole... smooth and velvety... I'd even like to hear Anita Baker put her voice on it.

Lyrics
You Are My Only One
You are my only one
My only view
Under forever's sun
It's only you
I'll never look away
Not since I've heard you say
That I'm the only one
For you
You are my only one
My only, only one
Let every, everyone
Come to know this, too
And on some future day
I'll catch your gaze and say
My only one,
As if saying it anew
Again some future day
I'll catch your gaze and say
My only one
Is
You
You are my only one
You've always been
My only, only one
My truest friend
No one can take your place
No other hand or face
No other ever will
Again
You are my only one
My only, only one
Let every, every one
Come to know this, too
And on some future day
I'll catch your gaze and say
My only one
As if saying it anew
Again some future day
I'll catch your gaze and say
My only one
Is
You
(Break)
You are my only one
No other, other one
Will ever, ever do
And on some future day
I'll catch your gaze and say
My only one,
As if saying it anew,
Again some future day
I'll catch your gaze and say
My only one
Is
You
