Tardigrade: can survive 1000 atmospheres; radioactive bombardment; can hibernate for centuries waiting for favorable environmental conditions; has a multi-lobed brain; etc., etc., etc... and we think we're tough?

Song Description

This was really my first serious attempt at doing lead work on guitar. Was reading through a lot of Sagan at the time so the science element was firmly in my mind even without the lyrics or even a title at the time. Then I read an article in Scientific American on extremophiles and the story of the tardigrade completely blew my head off. I had that very much in mind while working on the leads.
