Story Behind The Song
I have been attending regular co-writing intensives at the Holiday Music Motel in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin over the past 4 years where, under the creative direction of pat mAcdonald (formerly of the band Timbuk3- he wrote The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades), songwriter gather for a week at a time and spin the bottle to be paired up with co-writing partners. This song emerged from the "Dark Songs" songwriting intensive that takes place around Halloween each year. In the studio we also brought in drummer Victor DeLorenzo who was a founding member of the Violent Femmes.
It is worth noting that I do have signed agreements with the co-writers, all musicians and co-producer to administer the publishing and act as the representative for this song to pitch it for film/TV placements and I own the master recording.
Song Description
In the lyric version of this song, a woman awakes in the middle of the night to find that her lover has died in his sleep. She comes to terms with this reality and says her "Last Goodbye". For this instrumental version, I overdubbed a beautiful, haunting
