Lyrics

The sun is high in a cloudless sky
But there are storm clouds in the East
And armies have formed in that great storm
That will blow away man and beast

Trouble will come, trouble will come
Trouble will come they say
But ?til then, I?m safe and warm
In your arms for another day

And if I should have to go to war,
Say you?ll wait for me
And no matter the toll of shot and shell
I promise to return to thee

Trouble will come?

And if I should die on some distant field
Hold our babe and weep
And I will return in the sun and wind
That gently kiss your cheek

Trouble will come

Compelling lyrics, will hit home for many thousands of people no matter the age. "Trouble May Come" - great hook line. The song is hopeful and realistic, sad and loving all at the same time. I like that it's sung by a female rather than a male only because it's somewhat unexpected to have a story of going off to war told from the woman's perspective.
