Story Behind The Song
These were some of my father's favorite sayings - from the greatest generation. I strung these sayings together for lyrics to a "Frank Sinatra" style song for "1961 the Musical" and this was the result, with a kikline and all. It is bigger than life big band music for a heady post-war age.

Lyrics
Live it up!
Live it up!
You know you can't take it with you
Live it up!
Live it up!
The night is still young
Let's have a night on the town
and let our hair down
Live it up!
Live it up!
Live it up!
They say that a fool and his money are soon parted
And if the shoe fits well then we'll just have to wear it
But we've pulled ourselves up by our bootstraps
And now the shoe is on the other foot
We've got the world by the tail
We have arrived on cloud nine
We're not playing second fiddle
We're top dog livin' high on the hog
Live it up!
Live it up!
You know you can't take it with you
Live it up!
Live it up!
The night is still young
Let's have a night on the town
and let our hair down
Live it up!
Live it up!
Live it up!
