Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song after pondering the life of a homeless person. I tried to put myself in that position. How do you loose it all and give up on life? Is there still a chance that this person can still feel connected?
Song Description
Put yourself in the place of that homeless person you pass on the street each day. How did he get to be homeless? What goes through his mind? Has God forsaken that person?

Lyrics
OFF BROADWAY
I feel how you loathe me,
As you rush past the place I lay-
I know how you feel; yes I know how you feel,
I used to feel the same-
I?m cold and I? hungry,
I haven?t a place to lay my head
I live on the streets and wear rags on my feet,
Sometimes I wish I was dead-
One day, On top of the world,
Going places,
Never thought I?d end up here-
Chorus:
My spirit died and
The spark?s long gone
God?s reply,
Has never come-
All I ask for,
When I pray,
Oh Lord, Get me off Broadway-
I don?t want your pity
And I don?t need a kick when I?m down,
All I need is my dignity and
You can?t buy that in this town-
I?m cold and I?m lonely,
I don?t have a place to call my own-
I sleep in a crate over a subway grate,
It ain?t much but I call it home-
One day, on top of the world,
Going places,
Never thought I?d end up here-
Chorus:
My spirit died and
The spark?s long gone
God?s reply,
Has never come-
All I ask for,
When I pray,
Oh Lord, Get me off Broadway-

Sometimes, I watch the world just pass me by,
But when I feel the sunshine,
It reminds me I am still alive-
Sometimes a child will, look at me and smile,
I can hold my head up,
Makes me feel that there?s still time-
Sometimes a stranger, looks me in the eye,
It makes me feel like someone
Almost human-
Like I?m still alive?
