Story Behind The Song
This song was written in response to a sermon preached on Genesis 15, on Abram's covenant with God. "He took him outside and said, "Look up at the sky and count the stars--if indeed you can count them."
The lyrics have been revised somewhat since this was first recorded.

Lyrics
Verse 1:
We are on a journey where our feet have never been
Trusting in the Lord to lead us there and back again
Never underestimating God's perfect plan
We're in His hands
Many times our mind can't grasp the nature of it all
In our daily battle do we stand or do we fall?
Crying out to heaven for the strength to be strong
And carry on.
Pre-Chorus:
Then we hear Him speak:
Come outside, you'll see
Chorus:
Count the stars if you can as you travel this land
The Lord will take you to a place you've never seen
From the heavens above in His mercy and His love
He will guide your every footstep along the way
When faith is all you have to lean upon
Count the stars
Count the stars
Verse 2:
Tragedies and trials come in many different ways
In our heart we just can't feel the fullness of His grace
When our faith is tested will we stand in our place
Or turn away?
Pre-Chorus:
Then we hear Him speak:
Come outside, you'll see
Chorus:
Count the stars if you can as you travel this land
The Lord will take you to a place you've never seen
From the heavens above in His mercy and His love
He will guide your every footstep along the way
Count the stars if you can as you travel this land
The Lord will take you to a place you've never seen
From the heavens above in His mercy and His love
He will guide your every footstep along the way
When faith is all you have to lean upon
Count the stars
