Persevering Kind

Story Behind The Song

The sister of co-writer Henry Lees, Lila, was dealt a very unexpected and tragic blow when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After the initial shock subsided and the dust settled, she set about pursuing every avenue she could to fight her illness on both a physical and emotional level. With the help of a loving and supportive family and a deep, strong faith in God, she accepted and dealt with her situation with the utmost grace and determination. Through ravaging treatments and a discouraging prognosis, she pressed on unwaveringly in her battle against this devastating disease. Three years after her diagnosis, she sadly lost that battle. She was just 50 years old. She is also a hero. "Persevering Kind" is a tribute to Henry's sister's amazing courage, strength and beautiful spirit as she faced her illness and her mortality.

Lyrics

Persevering KInd

Someday, will never be right now
Livin, the way that we know how
Til a stone on the track
Sends you back into the well
You pick yourself
Back up form the place you fell

Chorus

For every prayer, you send skyward
For every reason, we have all heard
There are opposing plans and forces
A change in the course,
You didn't have in mind
You're the Persevering Kind

A feather, carried on a breath
The lightest, touch upon your neck
You're here and then your gone
A second and a moment until the day is one
You reach on out, grab tightly to everyone

Chorus

Bridge

And you know that heaven
Is such a beautiful place
But if you could wish hard enough,
You'd make it wait

Chorus - this one is different

For every prayer, you send skyward
For every reason, we have all heard
For every prayer, you send skyward
There are opposing plans and forces
A change in the course,
You didn't have in mind
You're the Persevering Kind
