Story Behind The Song
It's a long story..... {(:?D)
Song Description
Happy "Daylight-Savings-Time-Is-Over" DAY
So, check your Circadian Rhythms at the door! Also, keep your feet out of the aisles and your hands in the ship...we are going to go on a little trip.
This is a Dylan-esque, Don Henley-inspired and Lowell George-like ROCKING TUNE with some "modern lyrics". The lyrics don't take sides, they just mirror what is going on in our country and beyond.
I don't like taking sides in my lyrics, as it can easily cut off half the story's potential, ya know. And if you "don't know", I just alerted you to the facts. BUT, they do rock around because of the wavy environment we inhabit.....tipping front-to-back, bow-to-stern, stern-to-bow, back-to-front and side-to-side.....a calliope of broaching, knockdowns and self-correcting capsizing.
So, make sure your life-jacket is properly fastened. Of course, an old sailor like me will just grab the handholds on the pole mast and say, "Weeeeee!"
By the way, this song was just awarded a "BEST SONG LYRICS AWARD" in a song writing contest. I like to think the judges felt this song was kind of a modern, "Mother Goose" story.
But here's a teaser: "Walking In Circles" is kind like the song, "American Pie" .... only it is 2024. Two different worlds, for sure.
And make sure you look and spy that your Captain Gallagher is at the wheel with a barrel full of watermelons and a cartoon, sledge-hammer, whacking the melons with precision so the watermelon juice bathes all on-board. So, just have some fun.... it's probably about time.
PS: PLEASE follow-along with the lyrics that are provided. Also note, as licensed poet and songwriter....I can .......fill in the blanks.

VERSE
1. Metro woman and metro man
Use technology whenever they can
iPods are set for endless play
In their wireless, Bluetooth red berets
Blackberries beam the evening news
From motion powered dancing shoes
Implants power their PDAs
It's time to buy a ticket and just get away.........
Chorus:
Walking in circles
Crawling in circles
Living in circles
Dreaming in circles
Working in circles
Flirting in circles
Round and round and round we go
When we finally get home
We just hit the floor
VERSE
2. Collagen lips lick the glass
Between the silicone lifts and the surgical jabs
We watching TV we think is real
About washed-up rockers with short term deals
Download lovers on the fly
Laptop dancers swaying eye-to-eye
Fiber optics will ease the pain
If you can feed the cable down the drain ...cause we're
REPEAT CHORUS
Walking in circles
Crawling in circles
Living in circles
Dreaming in circles
Working in circles
Drinking in circles
Round and round and round we go
When we finally get home
We just hit the floor
BRIDGE 1.
Now, if you're feeling hungry take a pill
Multi-colored tidbits 'll fill the bill
High tech models, as thin as rails
Drop 'em in the snow and ride 'em downhill
No, no, no, how can this be?
There's a new world war on our palm TVs
You don't need a plug to get plugged in
To the digital life with a 3D spin
VERSE
4. Forget the future and the college loans
'Cause we're too busy with our hand held phones
Back and forth to a place called job
Planned distractions while they steal and rob
Macy's , Visa, and Mastercard
Have you living in a tent in your neighbor's yard
Hey, hey, hey now what's that sound?
Everybody's puking on the merry-go-round
REPEAT CHORUS
Walking in circles
Crawling in circles
Living in circles
Dreaming in circles
Working in circles
Flirting in circles
Round and round and round we go
When we finally get home
We just hit the floor
VERSE
5. No one gets married 'cause they're too scared
So, they live with dolls who just there sit and stare
Newborn babies are left to die
'Cause it's inconvenient to honor their lives
We re-write history with the stroke of a pen
So the whole mess happens all over again
While the world is starving and stuck in a rut
Its time to bend over and take it in the you-know-what
REPEAT CHORUS
Walking in circles
Crawling in circles
Living in circles
Dreaming in circles
Working in circles
Flirting in circles
Round and round and round we go
When we finally get home
We just hit the floor
BRIDGE 2.
But wait a minute friend, what's this I see
Nobody is watching their MTV?
They all on The Net surfing TheTube
Hoping to see some celebrity's boobs
YourSpace, MyPlace, let's have a chat
The pedophiles purr while they're stroking their cats
There's a guy who emails me twice a day
He says he's got a billion bucks to send my way
VERSE
7. Well, six-pack religion is the special of the day
And the pyramid schemes make you pay to play
To get what you want you gotta visualize
Through all the distortions and the things you despise
The altars are clogged with wannabees
Directing paparazzi, "Look at me, me, me"
As, the promo machine spins round and round
It announces the demons sent to clean up the town
REPEAT CHORUS
Walking in circles
Crawling in circles
Living in circles
Dreaming in circles
Working in circles
Drinking in circles
Round and round and round we go
When we finally get home
We just hit the floor
SPOKEN:
Man, I hope that government check shows up soon
I need to fix the economy all by myself with that $600 bucks.
Yeah, let me think where will I spend it
Hmm, you know something
I think I'm gonna, I'm gonna buy some Cuervo and some beer.
