Nazareth © (#1 Country-Religious)

Story Behind The Song

I took a hiatus from writing for a few years and thru the encouragement of some old friends and fans, I bought some recording equipment and started writing again. This was the first song that I wrote in 1995 after this hiatus. This is is an all-new version of the song! It is a fun song with some double-meanings swirling around in it. This is a song about how ALL kinds of love and how great love can take us all to the "promised land" of friendship and more. The tune has a funky Gospel flavor running through this tune....with echoes of The Band, Leon Russell, Bonnie and Delaney, Little Feat and Derek and The Dominoes wafting thru it. Hope you enjoy it!

Now if you wanna see Nazareth
You have to go there
And if you wanna see Paradise
Get up out of that chair
If you wanna see the sun
Then, see the smile that's on my face

When I see you
Oh, you're brighter than an angel
When I see you
I know my train is leavin'
When I see you
I know I'm headed in the right direction
And I want you on that train with me
When it leaves for Nazareth

If you wanna see the Land of Promise
Why don't you climb on board
There's place that I wanna show you
Waiting to explore
So if you can't hold back any longer
'Cause the feeling keeps getting stronger
What are you waiting for?

If you wanna go and fall in love
We gotta get down to the station
Love is waitin' around the bend
It'll be our destination
I'll be waiting on the platform
With my bags in my hands
And the stars will be shining in my eyes ...

I wanna leave, leave for Nazareth
I wanna leave, leave for Nazareth with you
I wanna leave, leave for Nazareth
I wanna leave, leave for Nazareth with you
I wanna leave, leave for Nazareth

It had a 90's country vibe, which was fun. I liked ths singers voice. Very Good song.

All in All I liked this song, I think it was well written, and played, vocal was good. Good Job on this one, I would listen again.

Rollicking spirit lifting song - making a joyous noise.
