Song Description

I wrote this song in 1972. Back then, unless you went into a recording studio on a semi-daily basis, your only recording options were reel-to-reel machines that you could use to do simple demos. One of early producers, Stephen Barncard, heard this song when he was kind enough to transfer a bunch of old tapes....and he LOVED the song. So, I decided to record and finish this song. It is a story of love "found", love rejected and love that, once rejected, addresses the foolishness, fears and doubts that lovers experience until they REALIZE that what they rejected should be saved and embraced. Hope you enjoy it.....

Verse1: They were friends and they were lovers
Mixing moonlight till they discovered
So unexpected and out of the blue
One heart and one body blended from two

Chorus: Lovers and friends, their story begins
Letters start with love that they send
A vintage love is tasted and swallowed
Living for love every day and tomorrow

BRIDGE: Then their love unwinds 'cause they need some space and time
And steal away the very things that keep their love alive
Lovers and friends, up in the air, uncertain and unaware
Nearing the end, they jump from the deep end
Wondering will they ever be friends again

Chorus: Lovers and friends don't want to end
Staring at letters they're afraid to send
A vintage love was tasted and swallowed
Two hearts and their bodies both have been borrowed

MUSICAL BRIDGE:

Verse2: Lovers and friends reaching the end
Their lonely journeys begin again
Haunted by dreams of what might have been
'Cause they had a love that never should end

Chorus: Lovers and friends walk in the park
They stroll in the sun, but they live in the dark
Till they learn that forgiveness can turn love around
And all that was lost is suddenly found ... again
And they become lovers and friends
And they become lovers and friends, again
And they become lovers and friends, again
Again and again and again and again

Good job. This might be more Pop - Rock than Classic Rock.

The intro was nice and builds expectation.

cool song...i like the keyboards in it...they really make the song...very original...and the strings in it really complete it...man i love this style of song...this is a great song!...man i love the organ and piano parts!...if this band isnt pro then they should be.

Very well arranged and performed track, shades of the Eagles and Springsteen. Love that recurring vamp riff.

The mix is nice and wide. I really like the atmosphere it sets.

Excellent composition with a solid meld of vocals and music.
