Story Behind The Song
When my church in Nashville built its first house for Habitat for Humanity, I was really excited, and I decided to write a song to celebrate it. My wife, Anne, suggested the title, "Loving Hearts, Willing Hands," which captures the volunteer message of Habitat.
Song Description
Habitat for Humanity offers volunteers the opportunity to build houses for families in need, using their own labor and resources. This song celebrates the act of unselfish giving.

Lyrics
Loving Hearts, Willing Hands
(Hymn to Habitat for Humanity)
By Charlie Crow
A house is not a home, you know
It's only wood and stone
And sometimes we forget to see
Too many are alone
Without a place that's safe and dry
That they can call their own
But loving hearts and willing hands
Can build them a home
Loving hearts, willing hands
Give yourself, be a friend
Spread God's love in the land
Loving hearts, willing hands
Look around yourself and thank the Lord
For abundance that you see
We take for granted all we have
As if it all were free
Yet there are those we can lift up
Through generosity
With loving hearts and willing hands
In shared community
Loving hearts, willing hands
Give yourself, be a friend
Spread God's love in the land
Loving hearts, willing hands
As neighbors did in years gone by
To help each other raise
Their barns and houses from the ground
To build a better place
So let us lift and toil and pound
Our own selves to amaze
With loving hearts and willing hands
We give God praise
Loving hearts, willing hands
Give yourself, be a friend
Spread God's love in the land
Loving hearts, willing hands
Oh, spread God's love across the land--
Loving hearts, willing hands
