Story Behind The Song
I offered a free song as a prize in an auction to raise money for a friend who was making a film. The woman who one this prize happened to run a homeless shelter for mothers and their children. She asked me to write the song for her shelter.
Song Description
Written for homeless mothers and their children, this song evokes the hope that still remains during difficult times and power of community to create a better life for those in need.

V1: C Am Dm F
Some days I ask myself, where did I go wrong
How did I wind up here, with no where to go
Some days I tell myself, this cannot go on
I cannot stay here with no room to grow
Pre-chorus: Dm F/ Dm F G
I just need to hear someone say
You're gonna be ok.
Chorus:
C C7
I never thought I would be so lost
Am F
I don't want my children to pay the cost
Am G F
I need a place, a family, a home
C C7
I was falling down, now I'm standing strong
Am F
'Cause I've found a place where I can belong
Dm Em
And they see me, as the person that I dream to be
F G C
I no longer dream all alone....I've found a home.
V2: : C Am Dm F
These days I'm learning, how to start again
How to pick up all the broken pieces
That are tumbling in the wind
These days I wake up and say a little prayer
For all the love that now surrounds me
And all the good out there.
Pre-chorus:
I can see a brighter day
We're gonna be ok
Chorus
Bridge:
There are so many mothers out on the streets
Praying for better lives.
If we all lend a hand maybe they'll understand
That hope is still alive.
Last Chorus:
C C7
They never thought they would be so lost
Am F
They don't want their children to pay the cost
Am G F
They need a place, a family, a home
C C7
They were falling down, now they're standing strong
Am F
'Cause they've found a place where they can belong
Dm F
And what they see, is a future they had dreamed would be
F G C
They no longer dream all alone....they've found a home.
