Story Behind The Song
I left my job disgusted one day, and was inspired to write a song about letting off some steam. My favorite thing to do is get in my car and drive to a lake by myself and get out and look at the stars. The title I borrowed from a song in an old movie. This is a shortened version of the song, it has one more verse

Lyrics
I left my Job disgusted I ain't one to take no flak
I slammed the door behind me and I'm never goin back
I got myself a six-pack and I filled my tank with gas
I don't know where I am headed but I plan to get there fast
Now I'm running down the highway
As the sun is settin low
So I'll have one for baby, and one more for the road
One more for the road
A faceless desert stranger with his eyes up in the clouds
A time to run, a time to hide, a time to live without
I've seen 500 strangers, seized the danger from them smiles
Its my way on the highway as I'm comin down in style
Well tonight I make my getaway and leave them all behind
To me they don't mean nuthin 'cause there's nuthin on their minds
It's raining in my mirror and lightning in my eyes
And a shooting star in front of me on a veil of clear blue skies
There's a wild card on my dashboard
It's cool down in my soul
So I'll have one for baby, and one more for the road
One more for the road
