Story Behind The Song
The song doesn't really stem from a break-up at all, but from a friend who was prone to drama and also in love with me. I knew I could never be in a relationship other than friendship with this person, and said as much. We'd also been through many drama fueled situations throughout our 10 year friendship, and I said "if this crap happens again, I' done". Of course it did, and I got all sorts of nasty messages saying "make sure you write a nice song for me about this" and how selfish I was. So, there came truth is!
Song Description
It's really saying, "listen, you can believe what you want, say what you want , and tell people what you want, but I know what the truth is. I know how this really happened."

Lyrics
You said you wanted a song
Well, here it is
It was only a matter of time
Before it came to this
And you say I'm selfish
And I say well, maybe that's true
But enough is enough
When too much aint enough for you
(Pre-Chorus)
I think it's time to walk away
While I still have a piece of me left
(Chorus)
And the truth is that I didn't want this
And the truth is you brought this
All down on yourself
The truth is that I didn't need this
You can believe what you want,
But I know what the truth is
Seems like I tried for so long
Just to make you see
That I'll never, never be the one
That you wanted me to be
I gave what I could,
But you always seemed to want a little more
You wrapped yourself up in your jealousy
It burned you to the core
(Pre-Chorus)
(Chorus)
(B Section)
You blame it on everything,
Blame it oneveryone else
But deep down inside, you know
You can't handle
You burned this bridge by yourself
Yeah - -
(Break)
And the truth is that sometimes I miss you
The truth is I'm sorry you're so far away...
(Chorus)
