The Love in my Soul

Story Behind The Song

I finished the orchestral arrangement 22 years later while recovering from my homeless ordeal in an apartment complex for the disabled in 2005. Within a few months, I was performing my human rights music broadcast on live TV to millions of people worldwide, competing at the 2006 World Championships in masters swimming as well, post-congestive heart failure via self treatment with my water-based medical technology. So I've decided to do my first music video at CMAC TV with this song, as a homeless man foraging for cans in the dumpster who sings like an angel, then brings the interfaith world together with "The Love in my Soul." ;o)

Song Description

I composed this song, "The Love in my Soul - the thoughts of a homeless man" on the piano in 1983 while doing my pre-med biology degree at UC Irvine. Didn't make much sense at the time. I was going to be a wealthy physician, right?

Lyrics

Something's happening to me,
I've realized nothing's real that I see,
And it's frightened me,
I'm all alone without a home to call my own,

Yet I try to see what's right,
Through the darkness of the night,
Though my fear obscures the light,
It has captured me,

Yet I must see,
Just leave my fear behind,
And strengthen my body and soul and mind,
To see the light,

Refrain:

I've got this feeling inside,
It scares me but I just can't hide,

I feel it from above,
I feel it from below,
My spirit's calling in love,
I'm just afraid to let go,

Yes I can feel the love in my soul,

It beckons me into the light,
I'm frightened but I just can't fight,

I know I'm ready to see,
The light is so near to me,
I've to let go the fear,
And make my vision clear,

Yes I can feel the love in my soul,

-

We search for love most all our lives,
Why can't we see that it's right here all the time,
Can we be so blind,

We'll never know,
If we refuse to turn within,
And let the truth be shown,

Yet we'll try to see what's right,
Through the darkness of the night,
Though our fear obscures the light,
We have just begun,

Yet we will see,
Just leave our fear behind,
And strengthen our body and soul and mind,
To see the light,

Refrain:
