Story Behind The Song

My cousin Dave Conroe, had a most unusual hunting dog, Lil. She made for herself a wonderful reputation around the county with her love of the sport, her skills and intelligence. Our mutual cousin, Jimmy Walker, brought me a paper he'd written about Lil long after she was gone. They all had wonderful memories of a truely remarkable dog. This song is a musical spinoff from Jimmy's essay.

Song Description

Not only a successful hunting dog , Lil famously entertained her humans, and those who wanted to know her, with her exploits, mannerisms and intelligence. Her passing left more people sure of their belief in the 'happy hunting ground' for dogs, and perhaps in their belief in heaven.
